Dear Aunt

Yours of Febry 23/42
reached me in due season
I mean in due season after
it was mailed. I intended to have
answered it sooner, but, be it know
I, too, am at times so much
engaged that I cannot get
time to write. I did not
wish to write you, until I
had settled in my mind
what I should do, and how
I should be situated for a
year to come - I am now
settled. I have changed
my employers. - dont be alarmed
- they wished to have be stay
but I had a very good offer
from Mr Brewster, a brother to
my old employers - and
with the advice of my friends
I accepted - he does not
to as large a business as the
firm that I was with but
I have a better opportunity to become
acquainted with the business
which I intend to follow
- had the prospects for commencing
business been flattering
I should have commenced

for myself, but I have a very
good sallary [salary] and my sallary [salary]
is better than the [DE: the] profits of many
of the merchants - another spring
will in all probability be big with
the event of my name blazing
forth to the world in "Letters of
gold"- leaf - on a [fine?] board
over the door of a Retail -Dry-Goods-
Shop-
I had a Letter from each
of my sisters a short time since
- they were both well - they
wished to be remembered to
their Aunt and cousins - Sister
M - feels much indebted for
Cousin Franks Letter - and
will very probably answer it
in very much the same
way -
Coz Frank I hardly
know what to say to you
- I have it now - I'll just
say nothing at all - I'll
not tell you any thing about
Judge [Buell's?] family - that
Coz Charlotte is considered quite
handsome and has a good many
"Beax [Beaux]" and so on - that [?]
will be ordained in June, and
then go south and teach until
his health is better - that John
is at home and comes to see
me, very often - that the

Seminary goes as usual and
Mrs W. - is as pleasant as ever -
that Miss Mary Dodd had returned
from the west - that [June?] [Lincoln?]
still graces the boards - that
Miss Mary Poulton sings most charmingly
and [DE: ?] is quite handsome
- and Miss Marion Stafford do'
- no - I will tell you none
of the news, without you write to me
Cousin Josy - wrote me
a long Letter, a short time since
- she was in her usual good
spirits - and said she could tell
me [?] stories with as good
a grace [?] - she [?]
not to forget our trip to [?]
and how sociable I was on
the Steam Boat, both going
and coming - reading
newspapers all the way - [ED: page damaged, possibly she]
also thinks she has profited by
the frequent Lectures, which
Cousin Frank and I used
to give her
You state that you
Expect Coz Horatio home in
June - I hope you will
be so fortunate - I would like
to see him, very much
I would be very glad
to visit you at Philadelphia
but cannot - I must spend all
my spare time with my Sisters

this season - I would like
to go and see Cousin Josy, but
I cannot - I had a Letter
from Coz Wm E Hale - a short time
since -
Ever Your Affectionate
Nephew
