My dear Mrs Hale
I recd your letter
with its enclosure of $20.00
(Twenty Dollars)from Mr. Godey.
Thank you for your
kind and encouraging letter, you
almost make me think myself
both witty & wise. If the readers
of your book will think so, if by
my with I can make them "feel
in their pockets" I shall be very
glad. How glad, I am that you
liked the [Buckskins?!] Almost word
for word; it is a picture from life.
- You will let me know when
you will want any more &c [etc.?] -
I am in great haste, having three
letters to write more tonight. Mrs Hale
of Keene has been with me the
last week. She is much changed
I think in looks as well as
mind by her last illness. I should
not be surprised if she did not
live a year. But as she has great
elasticity, I may be too hopeless. -
Very truly yours
CA Hopkinson
