Text
J.R. Underwood presents
his respects to Sarah J Hale
& informs her that he has
read the paper sent him with deep
interest. He has long been impressed
by the truths it announces & if he
could devote the larger part of the
public lands to purposes of education
he would most readily do it. He fears
however that this great fund will be
squandered by the selfish schemes of
political demagogues & that women &
children will reap but few blessings
from a wise administration of the
public lands.
