As the halfway mark of the 21st century approaches, the number of students and rising artists in the Greater Center City of Philadelphia is rising. With a number of different educational and design institutions within the metropolitan area, students(rising professionals) need a space where they are not only absorbing information but applying it as well. As art techniques advance with the decades, one can witness these transformations through the erecting architecture.

The Athenaeum of 2050 will provide the citizens of Philadelphia with a center for development. The Athenaeum will allow people to not only develop their mind but their projects and the concepts behind them as well. It is the responsibility of the Athenaeum to provide men, women and the rising generation of Philadelphia, access to a learning environment essential for not only research but also a space that grants amateurs and professionals the ability to gather in commune and share ideas with one another. As members progress from one space to the next, so will the phases of their project. The Athenaeum of 2050 influences movement and encourages productivity.
