Project Assumption
The new Athenaeum building is based on the idea of functionally divide space without any vertical wall. Each space is organized as a gallery and free to exibit architectural archives manufacts (drawings, documents, models, videos, audio contributes, etc.). The archives are set in the underground levels with restoration laboratories and facility spaces while the entrance and conference hall are situated in the floors spaces next to the city entrance. The building raise to high levels hosting a continuous vertical path made by exposition’s spaces.
Project Statement
The project goal is to develop a new idea based on a different path in architectural archives and museums design. It starts from Le Corbusier’s and Frank Lloyd Wright ideal concept for illimitate grow structure able for hosting growing culture heritage manufacts. As the same for library and architecture’s archive this idea could be more suitable concerning how this kind of museum communicate with people and with the cityscape. So the new Athenaeum thinked for 2050 is based on an internal path where the space becomes a continuum exposition gallery, from basement where the archive is to the top.
