Project Assumption
Our proposal relies on sound design techniques to program a compact building that achieves ornament with simple form and layering of light. It is respectful of its neighboring material pallets and uses the new technology to achieve a weather tight mechanism to bring its North wall to life. A series of self-contained cylinders programed to take shape upon a visitor engaging a historical document. We seek the opportunity to see drawings come alive at a 1:1 scale. The physical manifestation of this is intended to immerse and embody the historical artifacts like never before.
Project Statement
Our proposal is a celebration of the historical artifact. A place where the drawing, photograph, relic, word, tool, and artifact are brought out and up close to engage new visitors. Newly programed areas invite those seeking to silently study rare items, while introducing more inclusive gallery spaces that focus on specific and interchanging exhibits. Architecturally, the proposal is compact and frames views to the built artwork of its neighbors. Looking to the future, we leverage technology to activate a large wall that become a physical-digital hybrid Pantograph. A physical manifestation of drawing and art at a 1:1 scale.
