Project Assumption
As from today, there are two main parameters that modify the way we build cities and that will define the urban skyline in 2050. The first one is the extreme increasing of the city's population that requires creating an economic and fast way to build high density housing architecture. The second parameter is the development of immaterial technology called “the cloud”, the capacity to create a virtual database that defines the way we connect to the world and the city. This means great changes in archiving material of storages, museums, libraries, ... because all of those materials will become cloud-data.
Project Statement
In the future, public buildings will be dismanteled to recycle them into new housing architecture. So the project of the Athenaeum in 2050 is based on a new conception : 'the cloud-architecture', that consists of the multiplication of an unique public facilities architectural design. This building type consists of 3 functions : connecting, diffusing and storing. It is an extreme functionnalistic conception in which each architectural element serves one of the three functions. These buildings are a continuity of the public space with unlimited access. It is a totally independent structure that can be managed by the cloud with smartdevice.
