Project Assumption
In today’s world, we are experiencing a technological revolution. In just a short span of time, information has moved from the physical world, to a digital realm. The rise of the computer and the internet has revolutionized how information is obtained, created, and distributed. Once, the library was the ultimate source of knowledge; today, that information is available at our fingertips. Now we can simply ask our phone a question, and it can understand and give us an answer. This trend will continue to 2050; the Digital Revolution will give rise to the Digital Intelligence.
Project Statement
The Athenaeum of the Future will house a digital intelligence that known as the Virtual Librarian. Like an oracle, members of the library will rise to the top of the building to consult the Librarian on topics related to their research. The Athenaeum will be a shrine dedicated to the pursuit and sharing of knowledge: it is a house for the Virtual Librarian. The Librarian will present itself as a hologram, and will be able to give lectures to an audience in a great auditorium. The Athenaeum of 2050 will be a Cathedral of Knowledge.
