Project Assumption
The year is 2050.
Imagine there is an appreciation for the world we were given and the surrounding environment. Imagine social justice and sustainability are a priority, no longer a hipster fad. It is now a way of life. Carbon zero is standard. Conservation efforts are used for every piece that should be saved. Imagine social architecture is expected. Thought is put into how buildings should be designed and how to conserve the past. There is integration between what is needed and the designed environment.

Project Statement
The Athenaeum will create revenue via housing above the library made using its air rights. The effects of social injustice have caused the shift, half levels reveal itself. The circulation represents the weaving of justice into the structure. Community outreach is based within the confines of the Athenaeum. With housing above the library reflects its interdisciplinary past. The Athenaeum is the community anchor, not simply a lender library. It is a place of learning for those who live there and members, it is the only institute of social architecture of its kind.
