Project Assumption
Building technology will become more automated and modular with more construction being done offsite, reducing material waste and dangerous onsite working conditions.
Architectural libraries and records will include more 2D digital representations, virtual model walk through opportunities, and 3D printed physical examples. The advancement in technology will create more immersive interactions between people and design. It is possible that there could be an online library of virtual models of every completed and proposed building that could be explored from any device.
The Athenaeum could become the local or national hub for all design-related information.

Project Statement
The building is set back on the site and raised in order to be more welcoming and accessible to the public with the intent on recruiting more members. An open ground floor leads to a lush, landscaped courtyard.
The building will feature an outdoor video curtain that will feed the intellectual and creative life of Philadelphians. Video content will be visible from each floor and appear as a transparent background with views of the city beyond.
A vertical green wall extends to the top of the building and provides each floor with natural daylight filtered through low-maintenance plantings.
